FAQ
1. What makes the RoboSea Seaflyer different from other sea scooters?
The Seaflyer is built on a decade of marine robotics research and stands apart through its combination of dual-motor propulsion, a hydrodynamic wing-shaped body, and a built-in OLED display that shows your speed setting and battery level in real time. Most sea scooters at this price point offer a single motor and no display. The Seaflyer delivers balanced, smooth thrust with two selectable gears, all in a package compact enough to fit in a standard backpack.
2. How deep can the RoboSea Seaflyer go?
The Seaflyer is depth-rated to 30 metres / 100ft, placing it comfortably within the range used by recreational scuba divers and freedivers. It is well suited to reef dives, wreck tours, drift dives, and extended snorkelling sessions. It should not be used beyond its rated depth.
3. How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge?
On a full charge, the Seaflyer provides up to 40 minutes of runtime, which aligns closely with the average bottom time of a recreational dive. Actual runtime will vary depending on the speed setting and water conditions. The battery recharges in approximately 3 hours and is removable, making it straightforward to carry a spare for back-to-back dives.
4. Is the Seaflyer suitable for beginners?
Yes. The Seaflyer features two speed gears, allowing new users to start at a lower, more controlled pace before progressing to full speed. The single-handed trigger controls are intuitive, and the OLED display ensures you always know your battery level and speed setting at a glance. It is suitable for confident swimmers and divers aged 16 and over, and no specialist licence or training is required.
5. Can I use the Seaflyer for underwater photography and video?
Absolutely. The Seaflyer comes with a GoPro-compatible mount included in the box, making it a popular choice for underwater photographers and videographers. The smooth, stable glide produced by the dual-motor system makes it particularly well suited to capturing steady footage over reefs, walls, and open water.
6. Is the Seaflyer suitable for travel?
Yes. At just 3.7 kg and compact enough to fit in a backpack or carry-on bag, the Seaflyer is one of the most travel-friendly sea scooters available. For air travel, we recommend checking with your airline ahead of your trip. In saltwater, the Seaflyer is positively buoyant, meaning it will float safely to the surface if released.
